Additionally, the order of this list with “disintegration” and “dematerialization,” two synonyms with alliteration, sandwiching “febrilization” reflects the fast paced timeline of TB: destroying someone emotionally with the knowledge of impending death, the actual sickness, then another destruction of the physical self.

Just as the sentence refuses to allow the reader a break, neither did the pandemic. Writing out all the individual encounters within a quarantined society also serves as a recount that reminds readers of the extent of the impact the lockdown initially had.

The lack of coordinating conjunctions creates a fast-paced sentence that does not allow the reader any breaks from the action of this quote. This is also further emphasized by the fact that the items within this list are also all one word, capitalized, and either onomatopoeias or exclamations.

By not allowing a break between the three values mentioned, General MacArthur does not permit his soldiers to get any break from hearing or enforcing those ideals. There is no rest period in the sentence, just as there is none when fighting to protect these concepts.

REFLECTION

I wasn't sure how this character would turn out initially, but after drawing them, I think they're one of my favorites. I was wondering what class to make them and settled on an artificer, since they are known for being crafty, and I thought any personification of such a busy, clustered term like asyndeton would have to be resourceful and busy with new invention ideas. I also made them a centaur to let them be the fastest of the bunch.
